E3 is officially underway, my fellow gamers, and it begins with the conference of EA. EA had much to discuss in terms of its games, but they knew well what game everyone was waiting for. Yes, I am referring to Star Wars Battlefront 2. Despite great sales of the first game of the Battlefront series reboot, that game had many problems. A lack of a single-player campaign, a lack of content related to the prequel films, and pricey DLC, for starters. EA and DICE have taken the criticisms of the first game to heart, and have a sequel lined up to tackle the issues.
ALL Three Eras Of Star Wars
One major complaint among Star Wars of the predecessor was that the game focused on the era of the original films, with a small bit of The Force Awakens content. Content from the prequel era, namely The Clone Wars, was completely absent. This will not be the case this time! EA has made this abundantly clear with its gameplay demonstration which showed Clones facing Droids in Naboo. If that wasn’t enough, we see Boba Fett and Darth Maul facing off against the likes of Han Solo and Rey. Yes, you heard that right. Warriors from 3 different eras in one battle, showing the commitment to Star Wars fan-service.
Anybody reading this article ever play Splatoon? If so, then you, like me, probably enjoyed the fact that game kept offering free DLC for over a year after the game’s launch. Yet another flaw from the first game was the expensive DLC from launch. Battlefront 2 will have DLC as well, but it will feature the Splatoon model. That’s right: the DLC released for the game post-launch will be free! With new content from the series constantly being released, who knows what we might see?
Offline Single-Player Story
Of all the complaints for the first game, chief among them was the lack of a proper campaign for single players. This will be addressed with a proper canon story that bridges the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Starring a faithful soldier from the Galactic Empire (played by Janina Gavankar), the game promises a strong narrative.
