Star Wars Battlefront II: Fully Loaded
A Star Wars Battlefront II teaser leaked a few days ago and the hype train is in full swing. With speaking characters, Heroes from all eras, and headbutting Tauntauns! This teaser seems to answer a lot of people’s issues with the first installment of the franchise by DICE. But will it be the Battlefront worthy of the title?
Let’s start with the teaser itself. With what would appear to be another female lead, she speaks of remembering her last orders as the Death Star explodes in the sky. We see a crazy space battle followed by the character exclaiming “Avenge our emperor!“. After, it shows battles on what would appear to be planets from the first Battlefront. Then the beautiful words of “Across all eras” is shown, quickly followed by Darth Maul and Yoda about to throw down. We also get a glimpse of Rey and Kylo Ren from The Force Awakens. All of it to suddenly comes to an end with Rey, our currently nameless protagonist pilot, and Darth Maul standing over the title and an expecting pre-order bonus from The Last Jedi.
But what do all the flashing lights and words mean? Well for starters it looks like we are getting a legitimate story. Being lead by a female imperial pilot from the looks of it. Personally that’s a big plus, I am a huge Empire fan myself. But I also feel it’s going the FN-2187 route and will turn to the side of the Rebellion/Resistance. Either way, we are getting a campaign. And the big news that about 90% percent of us are most excited for, MULTIPLE ERAS! Yes ladies and gentlemen we are getting maps and characters from episodes I-VII, and eventually episode VIII for a cost.
What’s to come?
With Star Wars Celebration literally around the weeks corner what are they going to show there? And with the teaser leak, will they give the fans unable to make it to Orlando more? Hopefully they give us more than last time. Fingers crossed for gameplay, most likely that will be for the attendees of the event. And they will probably “Officially” release the teaser themselves. Saving public eye gameplay until the E3 or EA play events in the coming months. On the bright side we will get a Last Jedi trailer from the celebration.
What can we hope for?
As a fan of all the Battlefront games, I am extremely hopeful of Battlefront II. They’re not on as much as a timetable as they were for the first game. And with all of the fan feedback, good and bad, they understand what we want. Minus the whole Season Pass/Paid DLC nonsense that plagues the gaming world, Battlefront II should be a solid, $60 worth, and fan loved game. From this small teaser, most of the problems have been dealt with or managed. And that’s just from a 30 second teaser! It going to suck to have to wait months to see more, but I am confident as a fan and a gamer that it will be the Battlefront we want.
We can only wait and see what is going to come from developer DICE. These are not guys who screw around too much. As they deserve our patience. At the same time it’s hard not to want more, and more.
Going to go on a little rant here, I only have one major request. We all know the Death Star add on, that should have been included or free. Don’t take away many fans favorite moment in the franchise for paid DLC. I was willing to pay for the additional maps, but don’t say this is a game for fans and force them to pay to relive arguably the biggest scene in the franchise. That was my only complaint about game other than the story. They will hopefully, but unlikely, be more sparing on the DLC.
