State of Decay 2 will be officially released for Xbox One and PC on May 22nd, 2018. That’s right, in a few short months we’ll have our hands on the successor of one of the most addicting Xbox games of the last generation with a ton of improvements. The game will be released in two versions, for a cheaper than expected price, and won’t be bogged down with microtransactions.
As for pricing, State of Decay 2 will be released in a standard version for $29.99 with an ultimate version also available for purchase for $49.99. If you grab the ultimate version you’ll get access to the game earlier, on March 18th. It’ll also net you a copy of the original State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition and two DLC packs, Independence and Daybreak. You’ll have access to these on the Xbox One, though the release dates for the DLC are still unknown.
As for microtransactions, during a live stream showing off some gameplay for the new title, the developers were asked about microtransactions within the game. While Undead Labs has previously stated they won’t be placing microtransactions within the game on a Reddit post earlier, they’ve confirmed once again during the gameplay interview there will be no microtransactions involved.
There will, however, be paid DLC as we already know. Honestly, if you’re only buying the $30 version of the game, adding DLC may still keep you under the normal $60 price tag, so it’s exciting to see Undead Labs take State of Decay 2 this way.
I’m personally most excited for the 4-player co-op coming to the game. While the first one was great, it was lacking in multiplayer. Being able to play with four friends, for $30 and a ton of improvements, State of Decay 2 is THE Xbox One and PC game to grab this year.
