After the conclusion of Capcom Cup’s grand finals for Street Fighter V, Yoshinori Ono took the stage to announce what 2018 will hold for Street Fighter V DLC. Ono is a long time producer for the series and has long been known for his passion for Blanka, he even carried a small Blanka figurine in his hand while he announced not one, but two new trailers for the upcoming Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition.
First up was an extended character trailer for the first character of six that are coming to Street Fighter V next year, Sakura.
Ono took to the stage once again following this trailer to ask fans, “is this enough? Ok, one more.” What followed is the opening cinematic for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition which details the next six DLC characters being Blanka, Sagat, Cody and Sakura from previous Street Fighter titles, as well as newcomers G and Falke. Falke was previously shown off in Street Fighter V’s story mode, and G is a brand new character which has fans attempting to figure out just exactly who this character might be.
I’ve personally been waiting for my man Sagat to make his way to Street Fighter V since the game’s release, the rest are just icing on the character cake. Street Fighter V had a rocky start with a small roster and lack of overall content. The game has grown into not only an amazingly well done fighter, but one packed with varied and unique characters new and old. Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is set to release on January 16th, 2018. The updates to modes, character move-sets and balancing will be free for owners of vanilla Street Fighter V, but does not include the character passes.
