The Man, the myth, the legend – skateboarding icon Tony Hawk has revealed over the weekend that multiple games based on his self-brand are currently in the works with a projected release sometime next year.
The master of the 900 announced today via his personal twitter account that he is once again working alongside with video game developer/publishing giant Activision to create new home console and mobile games to debut in 2015. “I’m currently working with Activision on a console game for 2015 (along with a new mobile game). I think fans of THPS series will be hyped”, Hawk wrote via the social media platform to his fans and followers.
Activision PR reps have confirmed the validity of Hawk’s comments, while also confirming along with Hawk that their previously announced mobile free-to-play skateboarding game once in-development for Android and iOS, Tony Hawk’s Shred Session has been halted until further notice: “We can confirm Tony Hawk’s Shred Session is postponed indefinitely, and that new Tony Hawk console and mobile titles are coming in 2015.” The last title in the nearly two-decade long franchise to be released, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD – an amalgam of the first two PlayStation entries with enhanced HD visuals, which was released digitally on Xbox Live via Xbox 360, PlayStation Network via PlayStation 3 & Steam for PC in mid/ late 2012 to much praise from critics and longtime fans alike. A downloadable content pack was later released for the digital Pro Skater HD title which featured popular courses/ skate parks from Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3.
