Wow! This week was great, so many awesome things happened. It’s usually hard for me to pick the best things but honestly, trailers just took it this week. So here are the top 3 best things of the week. The hype is real.
The 3DS still has some solid titles coming even though people keep predicting that Nintendo will drop the handheld because the Switch is also a handheld.
Hey Pikmin! looks awesome and I want that amiibo, also Monster Hunter Stories will occupy my 3DS for a long time once it comes out this fall.
Finally, we get a better look at upcoming Switch games, we have a lot of remakes coming up which is not really a bad thing, but I’m still waiting for new versions of my Nintendo favorites. At least they’re good remakes like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Street Fighter 2.
Splatoon 2 is also coming and the new IP Arms looks so fun!
Also, I really want those new amiibos coming, especially the Link ones so I can get my Breath of the Wild loot. You got me again Nintendo.
2. Star Wars
Two different Star Wars trailers came out this week and they’re both awesome, check them out!
Star Wars: The Last Jedi
Rey is being trained by Luke to be a Jedi during most of this trailer; I suppose other stuff is happening with Finn, Poe and BB-8. Kylo Ren broke his helmet mask thing, and even though we see all this training going on we also hear Luke say “It’s time for the Jedi… to end.”
Like, wtf is that about?! Is Luke just training Rey so she can kill Kylo and then kill her so he can be the last Jedi? Well, Luke does have to train Rey because Kylo is bad news bears all over and it looks like Luke himself might just go the way of Yoda and just conveniently disappear.
Well, this is just all speculation, but at least we’ll for sure get some space battles that look kick ass. I really have nothing to say about the rest of the characters since this trailer was mainly focused on Rey and we didn’t see much of them.
I hate teasers they’re the worst, they just… tease.
Star Wars Battlefront II
After 2015s Battlefront fiasco, EA DICE is at it again… probably, idk this trailer looks awesome!
It looks like we’re getting a story mode this time around, which is something the previous game was obviously missing, seems like we’ll get to play as part of the evil empire during the aftermath of the events of Star Wars: Episode VI. After the trailer I’m kind of on board, eff the Rebels!
It also looks like the multiplayer will be about the same but with stages and characters from all the Star Wars movies, and there might be spaceship battles some reports say.
-No season pass (what!? this from EA!? Are you okay EA?)
-Offline two player local co-op for consoles (are you sure you’re okay EA? Do you need me to call your parents?)
-Early look at The Last Jedi themed content for pre-ordering the game (o.. kay)
Look EA just please don’t fuck this up (again).
1. Thor: Ragnarok
So a bunch of awesome stuff happens in this trailer so I’m going to explain why I’m so hyped even though I’m not the biggest Thor fan, warning possible spoilers ahead!
Thor is chained in the Underworld (clearly) which means he died, but wait he still has long hair, and he says he will tell us what happened and so we get more trailer.
Hela (Queen of the Underworld) breaks Thor’s hammer! Wtf?! And it looks like they’re on Earth when this happens whilst Thor still has long hair so this must be early in the movie and probably when she kills him and ends up in the Underworld.
Hela destroys Asgard by herself, if she can do that then I suppose a hammer makes sense, but how is she so powerful? Infinity Stone! She has one! I mean this is not confirmed but it’s the only thing that makes sense, just saying.
Then we see Thor being kidnapped by his (reportedly) love interest, and sold into slavery (oh the ways of love).
There is a shot of Heimdall in the forest looking badass like usual.
Also, there are a bunch of shots of what looks like to be a battle in Asgard against Hela in the past (way past) which would explain Loki looking kick ass with those knives.
And then the final scene shows us a short haired Thor in an arena about to battle… the Hulk! The freakin’ Hulk! What is he doing there you ask? I will tell you, relax.
Planet Hulk is a comic series that tells us the story of Hulk when he gets tricked by The Illuminati and sent away to space because he lost his shit and now the Illuminati think he’s too dangerous to remain on Earth and during the story he ends up (like he was shown in this trailer) in slavery to battle for the entertainment of a-holes; a lot more things happen in the comics that are so good (so good) but without possibly spoiling some more of this movie and perhaps others, the main thing to keep in mind is that this is why he wasn’t around during the events of the Captain America: Civil War movie.
It would have made so much sense to recruit the Hulk, but that couldn’t happen because whichever side Hulk chose would win by default since Hulk is so powerful (they did the same thing in the comics during the civil war event).
All in all, this was a great trailer with great scenes and an actual sense of humor (what!?) promising the best Thor movie yet. Did anyone else get Guardians of the Galaxy vibes off of this trailer?
This week has made me so hype for the future of what I just now noticed are mostly Disney and Nintendo stuff, and I am okay with it. Well this is all I have to say about that:
