Announced this past Thursday during a Nintendo direct, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, is getting an HD port for the Nintendo Wii U. Originally releasing for the GameCube and Wii, the game is slated to release on March 4th here in the west and March 10th in Japan.
There have been rumors recently about this title eventually getting a remaster and it all turned out to be legit. With Nintendo remastering several Zelda titles these past years like Ocarina of Time, Majoras’s Mask, and Wind Waker, there was little doubt that they wouldn’t continue the trend with Twilight Princess.
Next year marks the 30th anniversary of the Zelda series and Nintendo is going all out with this title and also the new game for the Wii U that is still slated to release in 2016. It’s supposed to be this huge open world and its cell-shaded look is sort of a mix between Skyward Sword and Twilight Princess.
To celebrate, Nintendo is including a new Wolf-Link Amiibo with early copies of the game. Not only is it going to be compatible with Twilight Princess but wolf-link will carry over some sort of data to Wii U Zelda in some fashion. Other Amiibo from the Zelda series will also be compatible with Twilight Princess HD which is pretty cool.
Twilight Princess is known for its dark/mature story compared to other games in the series. It’s one of my favorite games in the series because it has some of the best dungeons and puzzles that you will ever see, and that final boss fight is just ahhhhmazing. People judge it negatively for its unnecessarily long “tutorial” but it’s not that bad.
The game and Amiibo bundle are available for pre-order now but some retailers have already sold out unfortunately. You can still get it over at Game Stop so hurry while supplies last.
Also here is the trailer that was shown during the Nintendo Direct. As you can see, the game looks way better on the Wii U.
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD comes out on the Wii U next spring on March 4th.
