The upcoming Persona rhythm games will have some sort of VR support according to a statement made by Atlus. The statement made by Atlus claims that the PS4 versions of both Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night and Persona 5: Dancing Star Night will support PSVR in some way. Atlus however, did not mention exactly what in the game would utilize the PSVR capabilities. The developer announced this via PlayStation Blog Japan with no other details.
This is a shame because it really has me wondering how Atlus plans on integrating VR into these games. Of course, the ideal situation would be that the full game would be playable in VR. I am hesitant to believe that is the case however, since other big titles like Tekken 7 featured VR modes that left much to be desired.
At worst the VR support is probably a mode that lets you view the character models in a 3-D space with the headset on. Hopefully, it will be much more than that, as there are so many creative ways to implement VR into games like this. It would be quite incredible to be able to play a Persona rhythm game and look down to see that you are one of the actual characters from the game.
Persona 3: Dancing Moon Night and Persona 5: Dancing Star Night are both set to release in Japan this May. There has still been no official word on if or when the two new rhythm games will make their way to the US. Although we can only imagine they eventually will, given the cult success of Persona 4: Dancing All Night for the Vita.
We will be sure to post updates on any more news to come out about the VR capabilities of these two new titles. Until then be sure to check out WTFGamersonly for more great gaming news and articles.
