We got so many reveals this week it was difficult to choose what I liked best, especially when distracted listening to music and playing a very “deluxe” game. Here is your weekly round-up for the week commencing 04/24/17.
Injustice 2 – Joker
Earlier this week someone leaked some Joker game play footage, and in response to this NetherRealm Studios dropped the above trailer.
This Joker looks like a cross between the Jared Leto and Heath Ledger Jokers; a very disturbing Joker talking shit is a happy Joker.
We don’t know if the Joker will play any role in the upcoming game, but it’s very unlikely since (SPOILERS!!) in the last game the Joker was killed and then arrested and sent back to his own dimension; so this joker is just probably nothing more than a playable character, unless another dimension plot thing happens, or a mind transfer, or perhaps this is a new Joker in the Injustice dimension; who knows.
We will figure it all out soon as Injustice 2 releases on May 16th of this year, which is 16 days from the time of this writing.
Gorillaz – Humanz
Gorillaz latest album Humanz came out on Friday and it’s actually pretty damn good.
This alternative/pop/hip-hop album can be best described as a “playlist for the end of the world”. All the tracks are unique since Gorillaz are not an actual band, which means that not all people will like all the songs in this album, but it is well composed and musically sound.
Some of these songs do definitely suffer from the Gorillaz effect, the more that you listen to them the more they get stuck in your head…
person: “What are you thinking about?”
I’m actually listening to the album as I write this and that just popped into my head as that song came on. I have been listening to it since my early Friday commute and I have yet to get tired of it, it is also my Mario Kart 8 soundtrack.
Earlier this week in an interview with Exclaim! co-creator of Gorillaz Jamie Hewlett announced a 10 episode Gorillaz animated series for 2018 (next year), which might end up with the best soundtrack of an animated series after Yuri On Ice.
A future clothing line was also mentioned.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
This game is so fun! And it is so difficult to put down, specially for its portability. While yes it is kind of a big FU for the people that got it on the Wii U, it is also one of the must-have for Switch owners.
I watched like 10 video reviews for the game and here is what I gathered:
- It’s fun
- Better than the Wii U one (all dlc plus extras)
- Battle mode is better than the Wii U one
- It looks better (1080p 60fps)
- If you own the Wii U version also get this one
- If you own a Switch get it
This is not a review but I am going to tell you that I’ve been having fun with the game, by myself, with the gf, and online. I cannot recommend it enough if you like yourself some good ol’ video game fun.
This week is over and did not disappoint at all, I’m going to leave you now because I have to go back to play Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and if you’re not too busy doing the same do let me know what I missed (MVC: Infinity).
Next week Prey is coming out so we have something to look forward to, has anyone played that awesome demo yet?
