WTF are we playing? Another week, another gaming experience for the weekend. This week we’re looking at some new titles as well as some familiar gaming hobbies. I myself have proven that old habits die hard with a return to a familiar past, while others are exploring brand new avenues. Come check out our “wtf are we playing” segment and see if your gaming title made the list!
WTF Are We Playing?
Toby – Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE
I’m a little late to the game with this one, but that’s mainly because it was so damn hard to find in the shops and then I kept putting off ordering it online until I received a nice incentive for £5 off the Nintendo store. Quids in!
So yes, this weekend I will be playing Tokyo Mirage Sessions which I must say is a very niche title. From the way it presents itself to the whacky characters it certainly grabs a lot from the anime genre and if you’re a fan of all that jazz then you will instantly fall in love.
Something else noteworthy is that it’s a crossover with the Fire Emblem series so if you’re a fan of that then you’ll see some familiar faces. It’s essentially a completely bonkers, zany, and totally whacky RPG with a pretty fun battle system where you can link combo’s together based on certain skills a character uses.
The story is very over the top, the cutscenes are gorgeous so far and it’s a mixture of complete animation like a cartoon and 3D visuals. It works fantastically though and I really can’t fault the game, I’m 2 hours in at the moment and I can’t wait to delve deeper into the story!
Marissa – Smite
Hello everyone, Marissa here again playing Smite. Of course. What else would I be playing? Something new? Psssh. Psssssssssh. Don’t get me wrong, there are some awesome games out right now. And I just restarted Pokémon X. But this week brought a lot of exciting announcements to the community of Smite players that pulled me right back in.
I’m a console pleb. Plain and simple. But for once in a blue moon, we’ve caught up the PC updates and are running Patch 3.20. There’s not a lot to brag about in this patch, other than finally rocking that dope ass, smooth af Scylla skin. The friend’s list has also been majorly updated. Which you’d only know if you have friends to play Smite with 🙁
Luminosity and Soar FINALLY got their pro bundles. Which is to say the professional Smite teams have some goodies you can purchase to rock in-game and show your support. But really? Sobek for Soar? The card art is pretty awesome, though. Rama and Scylla now have new mastery skins, there are new achievements. It’s pretty sweet.
But, just to misalign the stars in Smite, the patch notes for 3.21 came out just this past Wednesday. And now I just want that next one…why?
Because of this sexy bird man. It was a good month for Mage players, like myself. Thoth (pronounce that as you will because even the guys at Hi-Rez didn’t know how to say it), no longer just applies to an item. Pitched as a super long-range projectile monster, I can’t wait to get my hands on this guy and start mastering him. If you have access to the PTS in Smite, you can start playing him now, but if not, you may have to wait just a tad longer. Not as long as us filthy console players, though.
Susano is also getting fixed. Which THANK GOD…according to my friend who plays him. I’ve played Susano once and I told myself I would never disgrace him again. New Odyssey 2017 items are available for purchase. And! The SWC loot pack just got announced. What is that? The Smite World Championship swag that is only available as part of this digital download. It contains 4 god skins, a ward skin, a new global emote, an amazing recall skin so you can back in style. And a divine chest roll. Winter is an expensive time for us Smite fans 😐 to get Odyssey items…or this loot pack?
Daniel – Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Call of Duty is back! Infinite Warfare just released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC this past November 3rd, and I am already hooked.
I jumped right into the multiplayer so that is where I have spent most of my time. I haven’t been able to play much, but from what I did play I can say I genuinely had a lot of fun. It feels like a mix of Black Ops3 pace with the fun of Modern Warfare 2. The Combat Rigs, Traits, and Guns rarities offer a new dimension to the game and completely swallowed me whole.
The maps offer a pretty wide range of possibilities. There are dozens of corners where enemies can appear, so learning the maps and spawns will be one of my first priorities.
I still haven’t touched Zombies but I can’t wait to hop on it this weekend.
I also managed to get a few games of Modern Warfare Remastered in, and I am surprised. Surprised by how much I am dying. I am so used to the fast paced style of Black Ops 3, that I run out into the open with a submachine gun and I get sniped from across the map. I adapted to it by using the M16 with stopping power and being more patient with my kills.
Overall I highly recommend the Legacy version of this game, so if you’re on the fence go buy it! If you want to catch me on the battlefield add me on PSN @ MrFudge 1.
Jerel – World of Warcraft: Legion
Ahh World of Warcraft. That juggernaut of a title that has changed the face of online gaming for forever. So my friends have pulled me away from the gorgeous MMO Final Fantasy XIV for a weekend of WoW going before my playtime expires. I’d recently resubbed with a friend from work, but our schedules didn’t mesh enough for us to play together. Then I found out that my old friends were playing. So, it looks like a trudge through the new Legion content is underway. Have you all played Legion yet? Any suggestions for which area to begin leveling in? Let me know and see if you can spot me in Azeroth.
What are you all playing this weekend? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook and Twitter @WTFGamersOnly.
