Almost a year after Xbox announced mass and inclusive changes coming to their Avatar Character Creation System, it’s finally here. Ish. The general public has one more month of waiting to do.
During last year’s E3 convention, Microsoft announced a barrage of things, but one of the introductions was focused around the Xbox Avatar system which was amazing when it first came to the 360, but was in desperate need of some serious changes.
The Fall 2017 release window for this Xbox Avatar overhaul came…and went. But now, we have a new timeframe and it is very close.
It was revealed by The Verge that Microsoft insiders will have access to this new creation software this month while everyone else can expect to get their hands on it sometime in April.
In addition to creating new and improved Avatars that can better reflect gamers through changes in body type, hairstyle, and a variety of other customizations, a new Avatar store will be arriving in May so that users can purchase more props and accessories.
And if you’re worried about just making an Avatar and it not serving much purpose, Xbox is also revamping how they will appear on your dashboard and throughout the Xbox Home.
In case you missed the announcement during last year’s E3, here’s the neat teaser showing off some of the customization and options we can all expect to experience shortly:
