Hello, your local Smite addict is back again with some exciting news for all who play this amazing MOBA. It’s been announced that in the next patch, 3.17, Smite will be getting it’s first PvE mode, Xing Tian’s Mountain.
On September 7th, Hi-Rez went live with their Patch Notes for the 3.17 update, and a lot of exciting things got talked about. After all, it’s the return of the Odyssey Event for 2017! Yay! More reasons for everyone to blow their money on this game! Some awesome skins got showcased (I need the Meltdown Sol. Give her to me now!) Nu Wa got her mastery skins updated and Terra got her mastery skins online for the first time.
But, let’s move on to the juicy stuff. Xing Tian’s Mountain. For the true, die hard Smite fans, I do suggest that you watch the patch notes, but I’ll break it down for you here as well.
Xing Tian’s Mountain is a quest, in which you can solo queue or party with anywhere from 2 – 5 people (yourself included). You will select your team composition, then be loaded into the game starting at level 13 and with 7,500 gold. You will then fight a random encounter and have to defeat your opponents with at least one of your team members still alive. If you successfully make it through a Round, you respawn with full health, mana, and all of your abilities and relics cooled down. However, you are stuck with the items and relics you have bought for the first round.
There are 15 types of encounters, but the order in which you play them is randomized (meaning you could face the encounter I posted above in your first Round, or 14 different ones). But, to anyone who knows a bit about Zombies from Call of Duty, you can keep playing forever. As you progress, though you may face the same encounters, the difficulty is adjusted to the round you are in.
Why put yourself through this hell? For Odyssey rolls and achievements, of course! If you complete Round 5 successfully, you will get an Odyssey chest roll (which means free swag for you and your gods). You will also get an achievement at Rounds 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25. Nifty! There are also more prizes, an exclusive avatar was mentioned for making it passed round 25, but anything else is being left unsaid until you get your hands on it for yourself.
Xing Tian’s Mountain will only be live for 3-4 weeks (it was not given a specific start and stop date during the patch notes), so use the time wisely and grind to get all the swag and bragging rights. A lot of pro players tested the PvE and didn’t make it to Round 25, so choose your team wisely.
Whoa. That was crazy to write. But like I said, watch the Patch Notes I linked above if you want to hear the full breakdown from the Hi-Rez team behind this event. And may the Gods smile upon you.
