Not to worry you all. But I saw today that one user on Reddit had reported his Nintendo Switch had warped whilst in docked mode. Interestingly this wasn’t something I expected but I have been worried about how much good it is doing having the Switch constantly in the dock whilst not playing.
After the issue with the left Joy-Cons miraculously not syncing with the Switch for some users whilst in mid-gameplay, you’d think the kinks would have been worked out by now. However the console is just a month old and one user on Reddit has reported their Switch console has warped, potentially due to over heating. But who knows.
As you can see from the image, the console is slightly bent across the top. This is indeed very worrying especially for such a new system, however until we hear more reports of similar things happening I’m not panicking just yet.
Something I thought about myself was if Nintendo had thought about the long term effects of having the Switch constantly charging when in the dock, I’m the type of person who likes to completely deplete anything electrical/technology based before charging so I find it really hard to keep putting the Switch in and out of the dock. Will the battery life decrease over time faster if it’s always in the dock? Something Nintendo haven’t really addressed yet.
Since getting the Switch I haven’t kept it in docked mode over night or whilst I’m out, although I do take mine to work with me everyday and since seeing this unfortunate warped Switch I am certainly going to be keeping that up.
