The first Zelda Breath of the Wild DLC, The Master Trials, is now available among a slew of awesome new items, features, and a new master trial mode. But one item stands above the rest. Let’s be honest, if you’re a long time Zelda fan, one of the most iconic items is without a doubt Majora’s Mask, from the Zelda title of the same name. An N64 classic, as well possibly the weirdest and most off beat of Zelda titles. Still my personal favorite entry in the series. Seeing this mask show up in Breath of the Wild tickles my Zelda fanboy itch something fierce. Here’s how to grab it immediately so you can traverse the rest of what the DLC has to offer with the best of style.
The mask also has an awesome ability to have enemies not attack, as they’ll see you as one of their own. But this only works for certain enemies so this seems to function much like the other monster masks do. Honestly, this item is so easy to get it’s almost a little disappointing. No Lynel fight? No ambush of enemies or hidden boss? Eh, whatever I guess, at least there are plenty of other neat items to pour over like Tingle’s fairy clothes, Midna’s helmet and the Korok Mask. Each armor set has their own unique ability or buff just like previous sets.
Also added is a travel medallion that allows you to mark your location for later travel, but there can only be one marked spot at a time.
Hero’s Path has also been implemented, allowing players to see their travel routes from the last 200 hours of play, hoping to highlight any areas that may have been missed along the way.
Hard Mode is now an option for the more, masochistic player, which has enemies regain health and be one power level greater than they were on normal.
Last, but surely not least of all, The Trial of the Sword. This is a challenge consisting of 60 floors for Link to fight through waves of enemies, broken up into three segments. Once completed, the player will receive an upgrade to The Master Sword, unlocking its true potential! Basically it wont run out of charge anymore, why did it in the first place? Yeah I’m not sure either how an ancient sword runs out of energy and is no longer able to be swung but, sure.
Also, of course speed runners have already done this in a staggeringly quick time considering how difficult it can be with weapons breaking.
The Master Trials DLC is available now as a part of the $20 season pass for Breath of the Wild. It is currently not available separately.
